About Our Clay and Sip Sessions

Located in the vibrant heart of Brisbane, our Clay and Sip sessions take place in the Uptown, Queen Street Mall studio. This central location makes it easy to get to, and the studio’s relaxed, BYO atmosphere ensures you’ll feel right at home as you get your hands dirty with clay.

Our Clay and Sip sessions run multiple times throughout the week, giving you plenty of opportunities to find a time that suits your schedule. Whether you prefer a weekday afternoon or a fun Friday night activity, we’ve got you covered:

  • Monday: 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM\
  • Tuesday: 3:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM
  • Thursday: 3:00 PM
  • Friday: 6:30 PM
  • Saturday: 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Sunday: 1:30 PM

Please note that a minimum of seven people is required to run a session, so bring along your friends or make it a group outing!

What to Expect During the Sessions

Our Clay and Sip sessions are designed to be fun and accessible for everyone, regardless of your artistic experience. Whether you’re a complete novice or have some experience with clay, our instructors will guide you through the process, ensuring you leave with a piece you’re proud of. We use earthenware pottery clay, which means you can take your creations home after the session. You have the option to let your piece air dry and then paint it with acrylics at home. For those who want to take it a step further, our city studio offers a kiln firing service for $15 per person per tray. Once fired, your piece will be durable, waterproof, and food-safe, and you can even book a follow-up session to paint it with ceramic glazes.

What You Need to Know

  • Materials Provided: We take care of everything, providing all the necessary materials, including the clay and tools. You’ll also receive a small craft tray to transport your creations home safely.
  • Beginner-Friendly: No prior experience is necessary to enjoy our Clay and Sip sessions. Our workshops are designed to be fun and approachable, making them perfect for anyone looking to try something new. Whether you’re here to learn a new skill, socialise, or simply have a good time, you’ll find the experience enjoyable and rewarding.
  • Suitable for All Ages: While our sessions are primarily geared towards adults, they’re also suitable for children aged eight and up. An adult must accompany any attending kids, and each participant must have their own ticket.

How to Get to Wesley Taylor Art Studios

Our Brisbane City studio is located in Uptown, Queen Street Mall, on Level 1. To get there, simply take lifts 6 or 7 up to the first floor—just make sure to arrive before 6:45 PM, as the centre closes shortly afterward. We understand that plans can change, so we offer a flexible cancellation and rescheduling process. If you’re coming for a night session, please arrive early as the building closes after a certain time.

Once you’ve entered Uptown, finding Wesley Taylor Art Studios is simple. Here’s how to get to our studio:

  • Enter Uptown: Walk through the main entrance of Uptown and take the escalator or elevator to Level 1. You’ll see clear signage directing you to the upper levels. The level you walk in from the mall is not Level 1 please go up 3 levels.
  • On Level 1: As you arrive on Level 1, keep an eye out for directional signs pointing towards Wesley Taylor Art Studios. We’re located near the centre of the level, making it easy to find.
  • Look for Our Signage: Our studio is marked with bright, welcoming signage, making it easy to identify.
  • Find Your Studio: Our studios are set out on Level One like a cinema so look out for your studio colour and number.

Welcome to Wesley Taylor Art Studios! We’re thrilled to have you here, whether you’re a seasoned artist, a curious beginner, or someone just looking for a fun night out. We know that diving into the world of art can come with a lot of questions, so we’ve compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help you navigate our offerings and make the most of your experience.

How do I Book a normal Paint & Sip not a UV Paint and Sip?

To book a normal Brisbane paint and sip session you need to choose the Fortitude Valley sessions. We only offer our normal paint and sip sessions here. The Fortitude Valley sessions are at a licensed restaurant and bar so you can purchase drinks through the bar.

If you’re looking to book UV paint and sip you need to book the Brisbane City location at Uptown Centre. This session is BYO and is in one of our city studios with blacklights.

Do you offer firing for clay pieces?

Yes, we do offer firing after your Clay Paint and Sip session. This firing service is $15 per tray of pieces that is separate to the clay and sip prices. If you’d like you can book in a ceramic painting session in advance and paint your pieces after they are fired too.

When can I pick up my pieces?

If you’re waiting on your clay being fired, this can usually take 3 to 4 weeks as the clay needs to dry first. Please pick up your piece Monday to Thursday between 1-6pm as these are the times where we are not running sessions.

Do you offer BYO?

At Wesley Taylor Art Studios we only offer BYO in our Brisbane City sessions as they workshops are in our own studios. In our Fortitude Valley sessions they are at a licensed venue so need to be purchased from the restaurant bar.

Where is your Brisbane City studio located?

Our Brisbane City studio is located LEVEL 1 of the Uptown Centre. The Uptown Centre is off Queen Street Mall and is the old MYER Centre.

How many people can be involved in classes?

In our public sessions there must be a minimum number of 4 people to run. In our private sessions (separate pricing), one on one sessions are available for 1-20 people.

What will the painting be?

Wesley Taylor Art Studios runs a number of classes, so we have a number of paintings. We choose a painting in advance for a session. When you book your event the painting you will be doing is provided. For UV sessions the paintings will be with UV paints. Check the gallery for some of our different painting options

How do I get the early bird ticket prices?

The early bird ticket prices are for those who book a week to 3 days in advance. If you do not book early enough you will receive the normal ticket prices for your session.
